Definition

It’s a Kaisen type method used to structure the conception or improvement of a given activity. It is very often represented in an Ishikawa diagram form.

Every single «M» represents a constituent of a given activity, whatever it’s industrial, commercial or logistical. The «5M» method permits not to forget any constituent during the studied activity analysis.

The 5 «M» are:

  • Manpower
  • Materials
  • Methods
  • Means
  • Maintenance
